Oil & Gas UK is the leading representative body for the UK offshore oil and gas industry. It is Oil & Gas UK policy that all persons working offshore shall be examined periodically and classified fit to work in the offshore environment. The fitness to work under OGUK guidelines is with specific reference to UK Oil industry for operations within the North Sea within the United Kingdom Continental Shelf UKCS). Organisations or company may however choose to apply these guidelines to their own medical check up processes.
As of 2013, Netherlands (NOGEPA) and Norway (OLF) have agreed to accept UKOG certificates for employees operating on their respective sectors. No additional medicals are required. The mutual recognition of medicals does NOT extend to mutual recognition of the additional medicals for those involved in Emergency Response duties.
